WINNIPEG – The Government of Manitoba has expanded its COVID-19 vaccination eligibility criteria slightly. The list now includes health care workers who have direct patient contact and work:
– in critical care units
– in long-term care facilities and were born on or before December 31, 1964
– in acute care facilities and were born on or before December 31, 1964
– a COVID-19 testing or immunization site
The age criterion had previously allowed for health care workers who were born on or before December 31, 1962.
Immunization clinics continue at the U of M’s Rady Faculty of Health at the Bannatyne campus today after a holiday break, but they’ll move to the RBC Convention Centre “Vaccination Super Site” starting January 4. The province says an online immunization statistics site will be launched in January.
More than 2,100 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine have been administered in Manitoba so far. A phone line for eligible health care workers will be open between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. every day until all 5,000 remaining spaces have been filled.
