Movies in the Park returns to Assiniboine Park on the Lyric Lawn over four Fridays in August. The kickoff is this Friday, August 3 with a double feature that includes Disney’s Cars 3 at 6:30 pm and blockbuster sensation Wonder Woman at 8:45 pm.

“Movies in the Park is such a successful annual event, and we are so thrilled to bring it back again for Winnipeggers to enjoy,” said Laura Curtis, Manager Marketing & Communications, APC. ”This is the type of event where new family memories are made every year and we’re very happy to be able to host it again this year thanks to the support from our sponsors that make the entire series possible.”

To kick off the four-week run, the Disney Store will be at the Lyric Theatre starting at 5 pm this Friday with a Cars race track for children and families to enjoy. They will also be hosting a colouring station and handing out Disney Store coupons. Children attending the event can also play on a Cars themed bouncer prior to the movie and grab a photo with Winston, the Zoo’s polar bear mascot.

Call 2 Recycle will be on site at the Lyric Theatre every Friday night in August with a collection station for old cell phones and batteries. Visitors who drop off their used devices and batteries will be entered to win a Family Park and Zoo Membership or $200 Park and Zoo gift card.

Presented by Steinbach Credit Union as part of Assiniboine Park’s 2018 Casinos of Winnipeg Summer Entertainment Series, Movies in the Park features blockbuster films on a cinema-style 27 foot wide LED screen at the Lyric Theatre.
