WINNIPEG – Police are investigating the city’s 28th murder of the year.

Yesterday morning at 1:18, officers responded to the 1400 block of St. Matthews Avenue for a report of an assault.

A man had been attacked by a group of individuals who had since fled the area.

The victim had serious injuries and was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Anthony Evaristo Gonzales of Winnipeg was 30 years old.
