New Travel Restriction

WINNIPEG – Beginning Friday, Manitobans coming home from western Canada will have to self-isolate for two weeks, just like those returning from the east.

The province says there will be some exemptions for essential travel.

International travelers are already required to isolate under federal rules.

Premier Brian Pallister says this is needed to prevent the spread of variants of COVID-19, as some of them are more contagious and could be more deadly. He also points to the slower rollout of vaccine supplies.

There could also be exemptions for people who have property in Ontario cottage country.
