WINNIPEG – Pave the Way and Walk With Us! Join the Alzheimer Society on Thursday, May 31st for the Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s at the new location at the Assiniboine Park Lyric Theatre.
“We are thrilled to have our walk take place at Assiniboine Park! It is a great fit for the growing amount of participants and promises to be a real celebration,” says Wendy Schettler, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. “Last year, we saw over a thousand people joining us to help raise money for people affected by dementia. It’s inspiring to witness the amount of support we receive throughout the year and especially at this event.”
During the months of May and June, thousands of walkers throughout Manitoba will raise funds to help support the valuable programs and services for people with dementia. Currently, over 22,500 Manitobans are living with the disease.
More and more people are reaching out to the Alzheimer Society for help as they or their family member face a diagnosis of dementia. The Society connects people with dementia and their care partners to support services, education and information at any stage of the journey. We encourage families to reach out as soon as possible to help make their journey a little easier.
The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba’s largest fundraising event throughout the year, bringing together our staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and people affected by dementia from all walks of life into one large community gathering.
“Great things happen when groups of people join forces and that’s what we hope for again this year,” says Schettler. Join the Alzheimer Society at the Winnipeg Walk on Thursday, May 31st at Assiniboine Park Lyric Theatre.
