WINNIPEG, MB – Nic Petan scored a power play goal at 17:51 of the third period to give the Manitoba moose a thrilling 2-1 win on the road over the Chicago Wolves.

Peter Stoykewych scored the other Moose goal as first-place Manitoba went into second-place Chicago and won a huge matchup against the Wolves. With the win, the Moose improved to 36-16-4-4 and pulled a full six points ahead of Chicago in the race for first in the American Hockey League’s Central Division.
On Saturday night, the Wolves opened the scoring at the 19:36 mark of the first period as Brandon Pirri scored his 24th of the year on the power play.
But Stoykewych tallied at 16:36 of the second period with an even-strength, unassisted goal and then Petan scored from Sami Niku and Micahel Spacek to win it it.
The Moose outshot the Wolves 23-22 as Eric Comrie got the win and is now 17-10-3-2 on the season. In a game that was interestingly officiated, the Moose went one-for-two on the power play while Chicago was one-for-six.
The Moose play again on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. against the Wild in Des Moines, Iowa.
