WINNIPEG – An 18-year-old Winnipeg man carrying a knife and hatchet ran from police Friday night on Furby Street, but was captured arrested.
Police, responding to a call, arrived at a building in the 500 block of Furby Street to find a holding a knife who when ordered to drop his weapon took off.
During the foot pursuit, the man dropped the knife but continued to run. He later dropped a second weapon, a hatchet, as officers caught up. The man resisted police as he was being taken into custody.
The man was then taken to hospital in stable condition. During the his treatment, he spat in an officer’s face with blood and saliva.
Trent James Clifford Fraser, an 18-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with Possession of a Weapon (x2) – Resist Peace Officer and Assault a Peace Officer.
