WINNIPEG – A section of Salter Street was shut down for almost 8 hours after a marked police cruiser car collided with a van at an intersection.

The police car was arriving to assist with another unit who was investigating a suspicious man in the area, when it collided with the van at the intersection of Aberdeen and Salter. Four occupants of the van as well as the two officers were taken to hospital where they were treated and released.

As a result the intersection was shut down until approximately 3:15 a.m. on July 14 while detailed forensic analysis was conducted.

The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) of Manitoba has been advised of the incident.
