Police Finally Nab 3 Suspects Wanted in a String of Break and Enter’s

WINNIPEG, MB – Police stopped a stolen vehicle yesterday that they believed was used in a number of Break and Enters throughout the city dating back to early December. Officers found many of stolen items in the vehicle and charged three people, all from Winnipeg.

The crimes are believed to have started in December 2017, when a 2018 rental vehicle was reported stolen in Winnipeg.

Then on December 18, 2017, when all three suspects entered a business in the 600 block of Kildare Avenue East attempting unsuccessfully to gain entry which caused significant damage to the front door.

Police believe the same three were involved in the robberies of six other businesses and theft of two license plates between December 30th, 2017 and January 30th, 2018.

On Thursday, February 1, all three suspects were at it once again and unsuccessfully attempted to enter a business in the first 100 block of Red River Boulevard by damaging the front door.

Around 12:30AM officers on patrol spotted the stolen vehicle near Main Street and Red River Boulevard. They were able to stop the vehicle with all three suspects inside. Several items were discovered in the vehicle during a search;

  • Both stolen licence plates reported stolen
  • A large amount of personal mail belonging to numerous different addresses
  • Personal property in the form of identification, retail and payment cards belonging to numerous people
  • Break-in instruments
  • One shotgun shell

Police have charged three people, Emery Peter Smith, 41-years-old, Caleb William Michael Covey, 35 -years-old and Christi Gay Kennedy, 41-years-old, all of Winnipeg, with numerous Break and Enter related offences.
