Police Investigating Rash of Stabbings in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – There have been a large number of stabbings in Winnipeg over the last four days.

The first four we list have already been reported by Manitoba Post. We left them in this story to provide a full picture of events.

  • On August 17, 2018, at approximately 5:55 a.m., a 48-year-old male was stabbed in the lower-body in the area of Princess Street and Notre Dame Avenue and robbed of his bicycle. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.
  • At approximately 3:50 p.m., a 16-year-old female attended a hospital with stab wounds to her mid-body. The female advised she had been stabbed while in the 900 block of Banning Street.
  • On August 18, 2018, at approximately 1:25 a.m., a 24-year-old male and a 28-year-old male attended a hospital with stab wounds to their mid-bodies. One male advised he had been stabbed on Princess Street.
  • At approximately 1:50 a.m., a 19-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were the victims of a violent attempted robbery in the area of Central Park. The male was found with multiple serious stab wounds to his upper-body. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition. Two individuals were located nearby and placed under arrest.

The incidents below were released by police Tuesday and have not been reported on by Manitoba Post previously.

  • On August 19, 2018, at approximately 1 a.m., a 58-year-old male was stabbed in the upper-body in the 700 block of Wellington Avenue. The male declined an ambulance but was transported to hospital by officers and admitted in stable condition.
  • On August 20, 2018, at approximately 6:10 p.m., a 16-year-old male, a 20-year-old male, and a 48-year-old male attended a hospital with stab wounds to their mid-bodies. Two of the males suffered serious stab wounds and the incident is believed to have occurred in the 500 block of Agnes Street.
  • At approximately 10:20 p.m., a 19-year-old male was stabbed in the mid-body in the first 100 block of Edmonton Street. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.
  • On August 21, 2018, at approximately 7:35 a.m., a 30-year-old male was stabbed in the upper-body in the 400 block of Maryland Street. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.
