Police Nab Three Suspects After a Short Chase in a Stolen SUV

WINNIPEG – Two men and a woman were arrested after Winnipeg police spotted them in a stolen SUV Saturday night . They tried to evade police, but Air 1 was called into action.

Police said they noticed the stolen SUV Saturday around11:45 PM as it was travelling westbound on Polson Avenue (near Sinclair Street) at a high rate of speed.

Police attempted to catch up to the SUV as it turned northbound on McPhillips Street but were unable to keep up with it. AIR1 was then called and quickly located the stolen SUV circling a condominium complex off Murray Avenue.

The vehicle then took off at a high rate of speed southbound on McPhillips Street. It eventually turned eastbound on Jarvis Avenue where it came to a sudden stop near Sinclair Street and the occupants fled on foot.

With Air 1 on top of the suspects officers easily caught up with the three suspects and take them into custody.

The stolen SUV, that had a stolen licence plate, was taken from an auto dealership in the 3700 block of Portage Ave between April 8th and April 21st. The stolen licence plate had been taken from a vehicle on Buxton Road between April 12th and April 17th.

The three suspects arrested were:

Traedon Troy Cook, a 19-year-old man from Winnipeg, arrested for:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Travis Freddie Ducharme, a 20-year-old man from Winnipeg, arrested for:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Ducharme also had four warrants for the following offences (combined):

  • Theft under $5,000 (x3)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Driving suspended while disqualified (Highway Traffic Act)

A 19-year-old woman from Winnipeg was also arrested for:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
