Police Officer Poked with Bloody Syringe

WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg police officer was poked with a used syringe while arresting a man for public urination.

On December 8th at 10:50 in the morning, police observed a man urinating in a back lane. As they stopped the man they noticed that he had a crowbar on him and he was arrested.

While they were searching him one of the officers was poked by a used syringe which contained what looked like blood. The syringe was uncapped and had been in the man’s pocket.

A second syringe and a small amount of methamphetamine (.45 grams, estimated street value of $90) were located and seized in addition to numerous pliers, cutters and screwdrivers.

The officer later received medical treatment at a hospital.

A 35-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested for possession of Methamphetamine and possession of break-in instruments.

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
