Potential Car Thief Tased by Police

WINNIPEG – A suspect in a car break-in had to be tased by police after he reached into the waistband of his pants while they were attempting to arrest him.

24 year-old Brandon Storm was caught breaking in to a parked vehicle in a parkade by police at about 12:20 am. today. He refused to follow instructions given to him by police and instead reached in to the waistband of his pants. One of the officers deployed his taser and Storm was safely brought under control.

When he was searched, officers found a machete, a knife, break-in tools and a small amount of methamphetamine. He has been charged with Possession of a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possessing Break-In Instruments, Possessing a Controlled Substance and Breach of Recognizance (X2). He has been held in custody.
