WINNIPEG, MB. – The final week of the Manitoba RCMP Checkstop program had 21 people charged with Impaired Driving.

The RCMP stopped 1366 vehicles during Week Four of their Holiday Checkstop Program that ran from December 25, 2017, to January 1.

In addition to the 21 people charged with a Criminal Code Impaired Driving offence the RCMP handed out other infractions;

• 5 alcohol related tiered administrative roadside suspensions
• 208 traffic related provincial statute (Highway Traffic Act) charges laid (majority for speeding and seatbelt offences) along with 130 warnings for various offences
• 10 Liquor & Gaming Control Act (LGCA) offences
• 9 Other Criminal Code Driving offences

Thankfully there were no traffic related fatalities during the final week of 2017 and the Checkstop program.
