WINNIPEG — RCMP say the death of a toddler in a remote fly−in Manitoba community is now being investigated as a homicide.
Mounties say the Little Grand Rapids detachment received a report of an unresponsive three−year−old boy on Aug. 23.
The boy had been brought from his home to the community nursing station and was later pronounced dead.
RCMP’s major crime and forensic identification unit went to the community about 280 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg to investigate.
An autopsy has been conducted but RCMP have not released the results.
RCMP say the boy’s family has asked for privacy to grieve the loss.
