RCMP Searching for Two Missing Winnipeg Hunters

WINNIPEG – RCMP in Grand Rapids are searching for missing hunters.

Police said Monday morning at 12:40 AM they began searching for two overdue hunters in the Grand Rapids area. The two were part of a larger hunting party, but went out together on ATVs on September 23rd at 3:30 PM. The group had been camping at Long Point on Lake Winnipeg, south of Grand Rapids.

The men, aged 60 and 73, are from Winnipeg. One of the ATVs has been located, but there are no signs yet of the two missing men. The two men are known to be experienced outdoorsmen.

RCMP Search and Rescue deployed ground search teams and CFB Trenton has deployed a search plane.

Police are concerned given the overnight weather in the area was 3 degrees Celsius with rain.
