RCMP Shoot at Fleeing Car During Pursuit

WINNIPEG – RCMP shot at a fleeing car after a report that the suspect was distraught and threatening violence.

At approximately 12:45 pm on March 2, 2020, RCMP received a call of an armed male that was distraught at a residence in West St. Paul. The call indicated that the male was threatening violence and had just fled in a vehicle.

Officers responded immediately and the suspect vehicle was located near the Perimeter Highway and Pipeline Road.

Officers attempted to pull over the suspect but he refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the vehicle came to a stop near King Edward Avenue, however, the suspect then continued in his vehicle at which time an RCMP officer discharged his firearm, striking the vehicle.

Officers continued the pursuit and the vehicle eventually came to a stop. The male was then safely taken into custody with no injuries. Firearms and ammunition were located in the vehicle.

Charges against a 29-year-old male are pending.
