Winnipeg, MB. – Grab your skates for another season of outdoor skating because the Riley Family Duck Pond in Assiniboine Park is now open.

The adjacent Duck Pond shelter – which is equipped with accessible washrooms, picnic tables, rubber mats and a toasty fireplace – is the perfect place to tie skates, warm up, and take a break. The shelter is open daily from 5 am to 10 pm. The Duck Pond is surrounded by lighting, permitting skating under the stars.

Along with this favourite Manitoba skating destination, visitors can also enjoy some sledding on the toboggan hill located near the Duck Pond on the north side of the Nature Playground. All that fresh air and exercise is sure to work up an appetite. The Park Café, located in the Qualico Family Centre next to the Duck Pond, is open daily from 8 am to 4 pm and offers delicious breakfast and lunch options for those wishing to grab a post-skate beverage or bite to eat.

Visitors can also enjoy the local Manitoba artwork on display at WAG@ThePark in The Pavilion and the beautiful holiday display in the Conservatory, making Assiniboine Park the perfect destination this holiday season. The Pavilion and Conservatory are both open daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission is free.
