Road Rage Incident Ends In Shooting

WINNIPEG – A road rage incident ended in one man being shot after two vehicles pulled into a parking lot to settle a traffic dispute.

The incident happened on May 4 just before 6:00PM at Kingsbury Avenue and McPhillips Street. Two men in one vehicle became involved with three men in another vehicle and pulled over into a parking lot where they began to argue.

During the argument, one of the men pulled a gun and shot one of the men from the other car. They then fled the area. The injured man was was taken to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Police founds the suspect a short time later at a home on Selkirk Avenue and placed him under arrest.

19 year-old Christopher Junior Capitly has been charged with:

– Aggravated Assault

– Assault with a Weapon

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Possession of a Weapon

– Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

– Transports Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner

He was detained in custody.

On May 5, 2019 at approximately 3:50 p.m., a second suspect arrived at Winnipeg Police Service HQ and was placed under arrest.

19 year-old Samtra Samtra has been charged with:

– Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent

– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

– Aggravated Assault

– Assault with a Weapon

– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

– Possession of a Weapon

– Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

– Transports Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner

He was detained in custody.
