WINNIPEG, MB – Carson Rybuck, the hard-nosed offensive star of the first-place Raiders Junior Hockey Club has been named Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League Player of the Month for February.
In eight game, Rybuck had six goals and 18 points as he helped the high-flying defending champions finish the regular season with an eye-popping record of 37-3-5. Rybuck finished the season with 27 goals and 65 points in 42 games. He was the leading scorer on the Raiders and the second leading scorer in the league.
The goaltender of the month was Nathan Cvar of the St. James Canucks. In six games, Cvar went 4-0-0 with a goals against average of 2.20 and a save percentage of .922.
The defenseman of the month was Trevor Szyda of the Charleswood Hawks. Szyda had four goals and eight points in just six games.
And the rookie of the month was Jared Bucci of the Fort Garry-Fort Rouge Twins. Bucci had two goals and 10 points in just nine games.
The playoffs have started in the MMJHL. Tuesday night the Raiders beat St. Boniface 6-2 in the opener. Raiders’ captain Nicholas Mathews had two goals and three assists while Rybuck had a goal and three assists.
