WINNIPEG – Police chief Danny Smyth has released the 2019 crime report.
While drug crimes are down 18.3 per cent from 2018, total crimes are up 10 per cent.
Property crimes rose 14.8 per cent and violent crimes increased four per cent.
Total calls to police jumped 4.8 per cent.
Chief Smyth says last year’s record 44 murders is what drove many of the numbers higher.
