Speeding Scooter Results in Arrest for Methamphetamine

WINNIPEG – A speeding scooter draws the attention of police which results in a 43-year-old man being arrested and almost $2,000 worth of methamphetamines being seized

Police stopped a scooter near Selkirk Avenue and Sinclair Street, checked the scooter’s licence plate and it came back as belonging to a utility trailer. The scooter’s ignition was also obviously damaged.

The driver was placed under arrest and a search of the scooter resulted in the seizure of 14 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of approximately $1,750) and $325 in cash.

Police said the scooter had been stolen between June 26th and June 27th from a home in the Riverview neighbourhood.

William Markowski, a 43-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
