Suspect Arrested for Multiple Robberies


WINNIPEG – Police arrest a man suspected of robbing several businesses.

On November 28th police were investigating an unrelated incident at about 4:30 am. on Redwood Avenue. While there, they discovered a man with an outstanding warrant and learned that he was a suspect in a number of robberies.

The first robbery took place on October 4th at about 10:20 pm. when the suspect along with two others took a number of bottles of liquor from an outlet on Grant without paying.

Then on October 12th, the suspect went to a non-profit business on Selkirk Avenue and argued with the security staff. He left, but then returned a short time later armed with a stick that he disguised as a gun under his clothing. He struggled with two staff members and managed to take money from the cash drawer, but dropped it while trying to get away.

41 year-old Sheldon Brent Maytwayashing has been charged with robbery, theft under $5,000, use of an imitation weapon while committing an offence and committing a weapon.

Warrants were executed for Fail to Comply with SOIRA and Robbery regarding offences occurring in Lake Manitoba First Nation, Manitoba.

He has been detained.
