On September 27 police stopped a taxi cab with a suspicious man in the back near Maryland and Ellice Avenue. He was uncooperative and provided a fictitious name to police. As they tried to arrest him, he punched one officer in the face, breaking one of his teeth and kicked and injured another.
He was eventually tazered as he continued to fight with the officers and while fighting the effects of the Tazer, he reached into his pants and tried to discard a bag containing 1.2 ounces of methamphetamine and 1.5 grams of cocaine. He was eventually restrained and it is believed that he had consumed methamphetamine prior to the incident.
The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $2,000 and the cocaine has an estimated street value of $150.
Both officers were treated at the hospital for their injuries.
