WINNIPEG, MB. – The cold weather has made it possible for the Terry Fox Fitness Trail to open to public skating as of today.
Park Conservancy said skaters can enjoy some laps on the one-way and a one km trail in the beautiful surroundings of Assiniboine Park.
“The Terry Fox Fitness Trail is a popular route for walking, running and circuit training in the warmer months,” said Kaaren Pearce, Director of Horticulture at the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. “We are so excited to now have it open for skating and bring it to life for the winter season.”
Parking is available in the south Conservatory parking lot closest to the Corydon Avenue Park entrance and there is a warming shelter where skaters can stop, lace up and store their boots while they enjoy the trail.
A reminder, Assiniboine Park Zoo is offering children ages 12 and under free Zoo admission from December 23 to January 7.
Assiniboine Park Zoo and all Assiniboine Park venues are open regular hours of operation during the holiday season including Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. All venues are closed on Christmas Day, December 25.
