Two Brandon Investigations Lead to Arrests This Week

BRANDON, MB – Brandon police have successfully wrapped up two ongoing investigations this week.

The first was regarding a serious accident that occurred on October 6, 2017 in the 400 block Lorne Avenue. A passenger in one of the vehicles involved in this accident suffered multiple serious injuries. This week, the driver of the vehicle, a woman from Brandon who was 20 years of age at the time of the incident, was arrested in relation to this collision. Blood samples taken during the initial investigation revealed the accused had a blood alcohol content of almost one and one half times the legal limit.

Police have arrested her for impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving over .08 causing bodily harm, and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Assault with Weapon Charge Laid from Previous Incident:

Another investigation, in connection with a January 16th incident where a male reported that his friend was getting beat with a baseball bat. A 31 year-old male from Brandon was arrested for his role in that assault. Police have determined that he, accompanied by a couple of other people, entered a home in the 500 block 11th Street wearing masks where the accused hit the 35 year-old male victim several times with a bat causing minor injuries to the victim’s head.

During that assault, the mask the accused was wearing came down and the victim was able to identify him.
