Two Women, one 16-Years-Old, Were Charged in Maryland Ave Stabbing

WINNIPEG – Early Tuesday morning, 12:10 AM, police responded to Maryland Street because a a woman had been stabbed.

Police found a woman suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. She was taken to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The woman was on Maryland Street when she was approached by two other women who robbed her of several personal items, one of the women pulled a knife and stabbed her multiple times.

Police said officers spotted a woman on Sargent Avenue matching the suspect description, Billie Jo Cooke, 30-years-old from Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Robbery
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance

On Wednesday around lunch time police arrested the second suspect, a 16-year-old girl. She was charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Possess Weapon, and Fail to Comply with Under Undertaking.
