Two Youths Try to Outrun Air1 in Stolen Vehicle

On October 6, just before midnight a SUV was stolen from a group home in the St. John’s neighbourhood. Just over an hour later Air1 spotted the SUV on Arlington Street Bridge. The thermal imaging/infrared camera showed that the vehicle had been driving at a high speed.

Air1 continued to track the vehicle as police were called in to the area. The two occupants abandoned the SUV at Elgin Avenue and Kate Street and fled on foot.

The two suspects were quickly apprehended as Air1 continued to track them.

It was later discovered that one of the suspects resided at the group home where the vehicle had been taken from.

A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

– Fail to Comply with Sentence

A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The 16-year-old was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for the suspension of his conditional supervision.

Both were detained in custody.
