Union Wants Pause

Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – The union at the Maple Leaf pork processing plant in Brandon continues to call on the company to pause operations because of COVID-19.

Almost two dozen people who work at the plant have contracted the virus but provincial health officials say there’s no indication that they got it at the plant.

However, UFCW Local 832 says some of the cases are among employees who worked at the same time and in the same area.

Maple Leaf accounts for almost a-third of the 64 cases of coronavirus in the Brandon cluster.
