WINNIPEG – Swift action by a pair of police officers may have saved the life of a victim of a violent machete attack.

Police came upon the injured victim just before 5:00 A.M. on October 14 at Pembina and Dudley, suffering from a severe laceration to his leg and in shock. They applied a tactical tourniquet to slow the bleeding and transferred him by ambulance to hospital.

Emergency personnel commented that the swift actions of the officers very likely saved the victim’s life. The victim’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.

The investigation determined that the male was walking towards downtown when he was the victim of an unprovoked machete attack. The suspects attacked without warning and immediately walked away. The two suspects are described as:

Male, Indigenous in appearance, mid-20s, short black hair with a tattoo on his cheek.

Female, Indigenous in appearance.
