Wanted Man Stopped on a Hunch by Winnipeg Police

WINNIPEG – A good hunch by police working in the area of Osborne Street on Saturday night.

Police said they spotted a man, suspicious to them, in the area of Osborne Street and Brandon Avenue. Police stopped the man and found he had a warrant outstanding for his arrest.

He was taken into custody and a search of his property resulted in the seizure of a number of items including the following:

  • A large machete
  • Two knives
  • Large bolt cutters
  • Wire cutters
  • Flashlights
  • Approximately 3.42 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $450)

Nicholas Alfred Wright, a 43-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of Break-In Instrument(s)
  • Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He also was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for – Fail to Appear – Promise to Appear
