WINNIPEG – Thursday night Police, with members from of the Tactical Unit, K-9 Unit and AIR-1, executed a search warrant at a hotel room in the 1800 block of Pembina Highway.
Police said three people were taken into custody and they seized a number of items including the following:
- .22 calibre improvised “zip gun”-style firearm
- Approximately one hundred rounds of .22 calibre ammunition
- Two serrated knives (5” & 7”)
- Gun powder
- Six .223 calibre rounds
- Five 20-gauge shotgun shells
- Six 12-gauge shotgun shells
- BB pellets
- BB handgun
Ken John Krul, a 23-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x9)
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x2)
Justin Mathew Melo, a 31-year-old man from Hamilton, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x6)
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x5)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Finally, police said they also arrested a 23-year-old woman from Winnipeg for the following:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
