WINNIPEG – Mayor Brian Bowman is urging Winnipeggers to “wear a friggin’ mask.”
He made the comment after the province announced new COVID-19 restrictions for Winnipeg to try and get the virus under control in and around the city.
The new measures which kick in today for two weeks include a reduction in gathering sizes from 10 to five people. All bars, casinos and bingo halls, casinos and large dining rooms must close. Restaurants, retail stores, museums and libraries will have to operate at 50 per cent capacity. The maximum number of spectators allowed at after-school and sporting events is down to 25 per cent of each venue’s capacity.
Restaurants have been especially vocal about how this will impact them. They also claim they weren’t properly consulted by the province before these new restrictions were brought in.
