WINNIPEG, MB. – There were a total of 43 Impaired Driving related arrests during the 2017 Winnipeg Police Festive Checkstop program.
Police provided the numbers for week five in a release. A total of 701 vehicles were stopped this week, with 4 people arrested for impaired driving-related crimes. There were15 road-side breath tests resulting in 1 fail and 4 warnings.
The program started in December and ended on New Years Eve, police provided the totals for this year’s program;
- 5231 vehicles stopped
- 106 Roadside breath test conducted resulting in 10 fail & 17 Warns (72 hr DL suspension)
- 43 Impaired Driving related arrests
- 12 other arrests
- 115 Traffic Tickets
- Average BAC 160 mg% (twice the statutory limit)
- Average age 37 (youngest 21 / oldest 64)
- 33 males / 10 females
Police say that the names will be releases once all charges have been laid.
