WINNIPEG – A 39 year-old man was charged with drug trafficking after he called police to report that he had been assaulted.

On January 2 at 8:00 in the morning police responded to a call of a man who had been assaulted. When they entered his hotel room they saw cocaine throughout the room. He was placed under arrest and a further search of the room resulted in the seizure of drugs worth almost $8,000 and $17,545 in cash.

39 year-old Peter Melquist was charged with Drug Trafficking and has been held in custody.
