BRANDON, MB – A 46-year-old woman was charged with assaulting a 79-year-old, a 21-year-old charged for stealing a cell phone and copper wire was stolen from a Brandon business.
This weekend, someone contacted police to tell them they observed the gated compound at a business in the 700 block of Douglas Street open and it appeared a vehicle had driven through it. Officers attended and met with the business owner who confirmed the gate had been smashed open by a vehicle. A quantity of copper wire valued at $1000 was stolen from within the compound.
A 46 year old woman from Brandon has been charged with assault after police went to a disturbance at a home in the 600 block of 11th St on the weekend. When the officers arrived at the home, the accused was seen on top of a man, repeatedly punching him in the head. The 79 year old victim was treated at the scene for minor injures to his face and refused to provide further details of the altercation.
Saturday evening, a complaint was received from a taxi driver that a fare had failed to pay and had ran into a hotel in the 3000 block of Victoria Ave. Officers responded and found the two suspects in a room in the hotel with the assistance of hotel security. A 23 year old man from Carberry was found in possession of brass knuckles and was charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breaching a Prohibiton Order by possessing a Weapon and Fraud Transportation. A 23 year old woman from Brandon was also arrested as she was breaching conditions of a recognizance order and was found to have warrant for her arrest. Both suspects were lodged at Brandon Correctional Center to appear in court on Sunday morning.
At 21 year old man from Brandon was arrested this weekend after a woman complained he had stolen her cell phone. The suspect was located at a home in the 800 block of 9th St. He was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant as well.
Sunday morning, the driver of a taxi flagged down an officer in the area of the police station to report that a woman he had picked up earlier broke the rear window in his cab and fled. The suspect was located when she called the same cab company for a second cab. A 29 year old woman from Brandon was charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.
